Most Anticipated Books of 2018

I'm sure I'll find new favorite series to stalk, and new books will be announced I don't know about yet from existing favorites, but here are some 2018 books I know about for sure that I can't wait to dig into once they're released.

Ilona Andrews didn't release a book last year in their popular Kate Daniels series, but the upcoming one in 2018 will be the last of the main for the Kate Daniels series. There will be some offbranch series books with other characters, so fortunately we will at least have that.

Mercenary Kate Daniels must risk all to protect everything she holds dear in this epic, can't-miss entry in the thrilling #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series.

Kate has come a long way from her origins as a loner taking care of paranormal problems in post-Shift Atlanta. She's made friends and enemies. She's found love and started a family with Curran Lennart, the former Beast Lord. But her magic is too strong for the power players of the world to let her be.

Kate and her father, Roland, currently have an uneasy truce, but when he starts testing her defenses again, she knows that sooner or later, a confrontation is inevitable. The Witch Oracle has begun seeing visions of blood, fire, and human bones. And when a mysterious box is delivered to Kate's doorstep, a threat of war from the ancient enemy who nearly destroyed her family, she knows their time is up.

Kate Daniels sees no other choice but to combine forces with the unlikeliest of allies. She knows betrayal is inevitable. She knows she may not survive the coming battle. But she has to try.

For her child.

For Atlanta.

For the world.

I loved the first two books that I found in the Beacon Hill Sorcerer Series. The third was supposed to originally be released in the fall of 2017, but is now set for January 2018. Can't wait!

Every action has consequences.

For a decade, Angel Salvatore has been the most powerful sorcerer and only necromancer in all of the Northeast. Never one to ask permission nor apologies, he has acted with near impunity for years.

Until now.

The High Council of Sorcery has come to Boston, and Angel is their target. Charged with numerous felonies, his freedom and family are placed in jeopardy.

If found guilty, Angel's apprentice Daniel will be taken from Angel's care and placed in prison. Isaac, his brother, is too vulnerable to be left unguarded, and Angel fears for his brother's sanity and health. And Simeon, Elder vampire and Angel's mate, refuses to see Angel convicted under the laws of the Council and threatens a cultural war that could destroy their world. And Angel faces the severest of punishments--the castration of his gifts.

Dealing with an impending trial, a wayward ghost, and a black market ring of thieves leaves Angel on the edge. He thinks he may have a handle until a stranger comes to town...a stranger with his own dark powers of necromancy.

I read anthologies slowly but like collecting them. This is a compilation in tribute to a great and long-lasting horror author who passed away a few years ago. The author collection is promising. I also like the theme and cover behind the heart of the purpose.

Few Millennium-era horror authors left as big an imprint on the genre as J.F. Gonzalez. CLICKERS FOREVER: A TRIBUTE TO J.F. GONZALEZ celebrates his rich legacy, featuring some of horror’s biggest names alongside tomorrow’s stars in a massive career-spanning tribute. Featuring stories set in Gonzalez’s literary worlds of CLICKERS, SURVIVOR, PRIMITIVE, and RESTORE FROM BACK-UP; examinations of his creative process and the lasting impact of his seminal works; personal tributes and anecdotes from those who knew him best; and much more. A must-have for fans of J.F. Gonzalez and horror fiction. Includes exclusive content available only in this edition.

The Authors: J.F. Gonzalez, Brian Keene, Jonathan Maberry, Mary SanGiovanni, David J. Schow, John Skipp, Jeff Strand, Weston Ochse, Wayne Allen Sallee, Kelli Owen, Nick Mamatas, Wrath James White, Jonathan Janz, Robert Swartwood, Kristopher Rufty, Adam Cesare, Gene O’Neill, John Urbancik, Gord Rollo, Gabino Iglesias, Monica O’Rourke, Mike Oliveri, Matt Hayward, Robert Ford, Mike Lombardo, Jeff Burk, Lesley Conner, Matt Serafini, Stephen Kozeniewski, Michael T. Huyck, Jay Wilburn, Geoff Cooper, Charles Rutledge, Wesley Southard, Kyle Lybeck, Amber Fallon, Dave Thomas, and Wile E. Young.

This cover will likely change. Since I've become a Rick Riordan fan this year, I'm curious about this series with Apollo. Have another series by him to read before I start this one, but have a feeling I may get to them all in 2018.

The formerly glorious god Apollo, cast down to earth in punishment by Zeus, is now an awkward mortal teenager named Lester Papadopoulos. In order to regain his place on Mount Olympus, Lester must restore five Oracles that have gone dark. But he has to achieve this impossible task without having any godly powers and while being duty-bound to a confounding young daughter of Demeter named Meg. Thanks a lot, Dad.

With the help of some demigod friends, Lester managed to survive his first two trials, one at Camp Half-Blood, and one in Indianapolis, where Meg received the Dark Prophecy. The words she uttered while seated on the Throne of Memory revealed that an evil triumvirate of Roman emperors plans to attack Camp Jupiter. While Leo flies ahead on Festus to warn the Roman camp, Lester and Meg must go through the Labyrinth to find the third emperor—and an Oracle who speaks in word puzzles—somewhere in the American Southwest. There is one glimmer of hope in the gloom-filled prophecy: The cloven guide alone the way does know. They will have a satyr companion, and Meg knows just who to call upon. .

I'm a big fan of Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series, and this book definitely sounds different. It may be a standalone. Set to release in May 2018.

Three years after losing her brother Luka in a school shooting, Skye Gilchrist is moving home. But there's no sympathy for Skye and her family because Luka wasn't a victim; he was a shooter.

Jesse Mandal knows all too well that the scars of the past don't heal easily. The shooting cost Jesse his brother and his best friend--Skye.

Ripped apart by tragedy, Jesse and Skye can't resist reopening the mysteries of their past. But old wounds hide darker secrets. And the closer Skye and Jesse get to the truth of what happened that day, the closer they get to a new killer.

Strength (Curse of the Gods) by Jaymin Eve

The fourth book in the Curse of the Gods series, which I read in the Fall/Winter of 2017 through group reads. Not perfect books but addicting stuff, so I can't wait for the fourth and fifth.

No synopsis has been released yet.

NOTE:

I'm going to skip out on the next Fever series novel since I caught up this year with the series and am not fully invested in where it's been going. The same for Anne Bishop's new character setting in The Other Worlds. My interest was mainly in Lakeside village and I'm not looking to start over with new characters right now.
