One Week Sticky: Bout of Books Read-A-Thon Jan 2018

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda Shofner and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am January 8th through January 14th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional.  For all Bout of Books 21 information and updates, be sure to visit the  Bout of Books  blog.  - From the Bout of Books team    Reading Goals I had a lot of fun with the last Bout of Books Read-a-thon, and find it to be the perfect timing considering it's starting in the new year. As usual I'll read inconsistently but will try to start the year out with a bang. Hoping to finish at least five books. Eyeing some of these to complete: January 8, 2018

MONTHLY UPDATE: SEPT AND OCT

Yes, I didn't update September even though I kept meaning too - I'll slip in a mini recap of it with October. The months have been busy and I've been steadily reading. Fall is my favorite time of the year - Florida doesn't have a strong Fall change with weather but there were plenty of Fallish activities that kept me busy. I put some reviews up and some Book-to-Film features for Halloween week. A few articles and random things. Let the recapping begin...    General Stuff As I've mentioned, Fall and Halloween are top favorites for me. I was delighted that this year opened up different trips and chances to do something different in September and October.  I didn't end up going to The Shining Special Dinner and Movie event on Halloween night at the Polk Theater as planned and ended up doing very little on Halloween night other than help my mother and aunt pass out some candy to some adorable costume-wearing kiddies, but the rest of the month

November 2017 Update

Another month closer to the end of the year. 2017 really flew by, didn't it? I'm happy to see we're ending Hurricane season - it was a vicious one and I'm not in the mood for any more storms. We're also already coming to an end for the Fall season. Overall it's been a good Fall in Florida for a change - instead of being in the 90's daily, we've had some spurts of cooler weather and it's evened out around the 70's, which is perfect. I've read little this month in comparison to other months, but did hit that yearly Goodreads goal. December is a busy behind-the-scenes time blog and reading wise. I have to tally up the year totals, see in dismay how poorly I did on New Year's challenges, complete the End of the Year survey, try to catch up on stray reviews I procrastinated on (behind almost 50, yes really...), create a new plan for the new year and post it at the respective Goodreads and Library thing groups, create a new Challenge pag

Did you mostly stick with books by your favorite authors last year? We ventured out quite a bit and discovered quite a few authors who we want to read more from in the future. Hosted by  Girlxoxo ,  Traveling with T and Estella’s Revenge for their 4th annual #AMonthofFaves blog event

Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag

Original rules were about tagging people and to grab this once tagged, but I couldn't resist when I saw it on another site, Feed your Fiction Addiction . I'm going to leave this here for anyone to grab and do - may try to do actual "tags" later! Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done Bookish Naughty or Nice Tag 1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it Yes, guilty of this one. Better than I used to be, but ugh, those Netgalley books can add up. 2. Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley Fortunately I'm a little over 70% right now and hope to keep rising. Nice on this one. 3. Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did) I eventually get to reviews - take forever, but they get there.

Evil under the Sun by Agatha Christie

Hercule Poirot, #23 MYSTERY Source: Purchased Set at the Jolly Roger, a posh vacation resort for the rich and famous on the southern coast of England, Evil Under the Sun is one of Agatha Christie’s most intriguing mysteries. When a gorgeous young bride is brutally strangled to death on the beach, only Hercule Poirot can sift through the secrets that shroud each of the guests and unravel the macabre mystery at this playground by the sea. “To count - really and truly to count - a woman must have goodness or brains.”
